Surfrider Foundation Event: It Ain’t Pretty Film Premiere

Surfrider Foundation Event Spotlight:

It Ain’t Pretty Film Premiere

The Surfrider Foundation and SVI recently hosted a premiere event for the film "It Ain't Pretty" at Lake Tahoe on November 18th, 2016. The event was a huge success with over 400 attendees who were excited to watch the film and meet the women in the film who are forging new tides in big wave competitive surfing. The film, presented by Kathleen Egan, producer of It Ain't Pretty, tells the story of these women, their passion and how they are breaking stereotypes in the surfing world.

The event was not only an opportunity to watch the film, but also to engage with the surfers themselves. Attendees were given the opportunity to ask questions during a Q&A session with surfers Bianca Valenti, Rebecca Wonderlich, and Monique Kitamura. The event was not only an inspiration for the surfing community, but also for the attendees.

Guests also had the opportunity to enjoy a special opening presentation by Keoki Flagg who unveiled new images from the 2017 Women of Squaw Alpine Ski Patrol calendar. Several of the incredible women of the Squaw Alpine Ski Patrol team were there to pre-sell the calendar, and the official calendar debut will take place on November 26th at Gallery Keoki. Proceeds from the calendar sales will benefit local avalanche education scholarships.

Overall, the event was a great success and the Surfrider Foundation and SVI would like to thank all who came out to support the film and the foundation. It was an evening of inspiration, education and entertainment, and it was a great opportunity to raise awareness about the importance of preserving the ocean and breaking stereotypes in the surfing community.
