The Legacy of Erik Roner

The Legacy of Erik Roner

The Squaw Valley Institute and myself are deeply and profoundly saddened by the tragic loss of Erik Roner. A true icon in the action sports community, Erik was an inspiration in every regard - as an athlete, a father, a friend, a philanthropist, and community member. He was a part of our SVI family, and we are forever grateful for his generosity, his spirit, and the legacy of inspiration he has left behind.

Erik was a skilled skier and skydiver, known for his creativity and fearlessness in the mountains. He starred in many Teton Gravity Research films, earning him a spot in Powder Magazine's Reader Poll on multiple occasions. He then began mixing his skydiving experience with skiing, adding first descent ski BASE jumps to his list of exploits, becoming one of the pioneers in the sport. He even performed at live shows and events such as Nitro Circus, and base jumping into a sold-out stadium of 23,000 fans in South Africa.

Erik leaves behind an incredible legacy and will be sincerely missed by all who knew him. Our hearts and deepest sympathies are with the Roner family and friends at this difficult time.
